The Opportunity
Huawei Milan Research Center is looking for a Wireless RF System Senior Expert with a proven experience in any aspect of system design, analysis and architecture definition of Base Station RF systems for wireless communications including RF transceiver, antenna array and so on.
You will be engaged in both research and technological projects, working within a team of highly motivated engineers covering microwave and mmWave wireless communication architectures, while also pioneering research on innovative and groundbreaking 6G wireless communication technologies through identification, strategic planning, and business execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the RF system architecture planning, key subsystem design, and new technology development for wireless millimeter-wave and cm-wave base station products
- Develop new or advance existing designs of Massive-MIMO and phased array Base Station Antennas for wireless communication systems
- Perform performance analysis and comparisons of various wireless architectures and concepts
- Conduct field research on existing Base Station architectures and assess suitable technologies to be addressed according to project targets, documenting hypotheses, designs and results
- Contribute to the planning and progress reports of the development activities
- Collaborate with other research centers and/or universities.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Physics, PhD would be a plus
- +10 years of work experience in the field of Wireless RF System Engineering
- A strong theoretical background in Wireless communication systems, Antennas and Electromagnetics
- Knowledge of the main wireless base station architectures and key subsystems/components
- Knowledge of MIMO antenna theory and Phased Array Antenna systems
- Familiarity to work in lab
- Knowledge of scripting/programming languages (e.g. Python), basic knowledge of commercial electromagnetic modelling tools would be a plus
- Excellent knowledge of English language, both written and spoken
- Hands-on and result-oriented attitude
- Openness and flexibility to adapt to a fast-changing environment and to push beyond your limits
- Willingness to work in a multicultural environment

In Huawei Milan Research Center, we work on cutting-edge technologies in microwave and millimeter-wave communications, focusing on frequency bands such as E-Band, W-Band, and D-Band.
Our research extends to free-space optical communications, advanced system architectures, antenna technologies, and contributions to standardization efforts. We also develop active phased array systems, focusing on innovative architectures and antenna array technologies.
Additionally, we are engaged in research on optical RFICs, including drivers and transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs), as well as microwave and millimeter-wave IC used in power amplifiers and front-end technologies.
Our research also covers HF technologies, advanced electromagnetics (EM), and also power integrity and high speed signal integrity in next-generation systems.
